Original, Timeless, and Sadly Overlooked

As I mentioned in my review on Mr. Myerson's album 'Merge', this man is a musical genius. After catching a random song from this album and 'Merge' on my iPod's shuffle over the years, I've recently started digging back into my song collection and have found that almost a decade after finding these albums and playing the hell out of them, I still have all of the melodies and lyrics memorized by heart (in this case, FourZero East, my favorite Myerson track apart from 'An Ocean Wide').

Myerson did something with this album that was vastly different from his previous work. Abandoning much of his original style (the same style that had made him a relatively famous name in the electronic music scene in the '90s and early '00s) Myerson moved cross-country to NJ and started a career as a singer-songwriter. He combined elements of favorite musicians Duncan Sheik and Depeche Mode, crafting an entirely unique (and sorely overlooked and under appreciated) style that captured his soft but powerful vocals with organic piano and guitar and atmospheric synthetic sounds. It's intoxicating, and worth more than the paltry $9.90 iTunes asks for it.

Do the man (and the world) a service and buy this album and 'Merge'. Send Jamie a signal that his presence in the music world is sorely missed and that continuing to make music would be a benefit both to him and to those who are so lucky to hear it.

Myerson recorded for 4 Hero's Reinforced Records from 1993 to 1995 before signing with an American, Josh Wink's Ovum Recordings, for a Columbia-distributed major-label contract. Growing up...
