Amazing New Band!

"Narcotic" is one of my favorite albums of the year. Period. In the Alternative and Rock categories (it should not be categorized under "Pop"), only several records even come close. Similar to The Fray, No Second Troy is a breath of fresh air in today's over produced, sold-out music industry. They have a unique sound with great vocals and talented musicians. The lyrics are original and extremely well written, something becoming increasingly rare these days. If you enjoy bands such as The Fray and Snow Patrol, you simply can't go wrong buying this album. In the near future, No Second Troy will be one of the big names in this genre and you could be one of their first fans who supported them from the beginning - I know I am. Best Songs: -"The Gardens After Lockout" - This song has been on my MySpace for over 2 months and has a slow, yet memorable melody to it. -"Into Your Sun" - This sounds like it could be a song on the soundtrack in a Zach Braff movie (ie. Garden State, The Last Kiss) -"Burned" - I would say that this is tied with "Feint" for being the hit that makes No Second Troy a huge success! It is a fun song which many people could relate to. -"Feint" - This song has a universal appeal and shares similarities to Snow Patrol's recent recordings. This should be a big hit. -"Perfect" - Great song with a great instrumental section 3 minutes into it. Overall: This is an amazing CD which will definitely spend the entire summer in my 6 Disc CD changer in my car. A great, relaxing summer CD! If you give them a chance, you will not be disappointed!

Finally!!

My favorite boys from DC are back! It seems like I've been waiting forever for NST's new album to come out; I'm not disappointed -- and you won't be either!! Indie-rock at its finest, with some Britpop mixed in to keep it interesting. In particular, check out "The Gardens After Lockout" -- you'll thank me later.

I wish these guys could make their way to Denver

My wife and I saw these guys performing at a bar in Dupont Circle a couple of weeks ago. Their live renditions of "Feint" and "Burned" had us sold. A large crowd gathered on the street where we could look down upon the stage. We went downstairs and listened to "Into Your Sun." Jeff Wharen courted the small audience, inviting us in to share in the band's art. This is a band whose artists share songwriting duties; their lyrics reflect a degree of maturity and insight seldom seen in young--this, in tandem with eclectic musical arrangements that are catchy and engaging. This album is a sure bet.

Biography

Formed: 2004 in Washington DC

Genre: Rock

Years Active: '00s

With an enthusiasm for melodic choruses and instrumental uplift, the alternative pop/rock outfit No Second Troy took root in Washington, D.C. Guitarist Tom McCarthy and keyboardist Mike Beach, both of whom had lost their respective mothers at a young age, launched the quintet in 2004. The pair's shared experiences helped fuel their dramatic music, and No Second Troy (whose name is borrowed from a W.B. Yeats poem) were soon finalized with the addition of drummer Vijay Shanker and vocalist Jeff Wharen....
