iTunes Review

"For three decades this DC-area native turned L.A. stalwart has been producing power-pop that's eluded the mainstream. A case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time? It's hard to explain considering the obvious allure of his catchy songwriting, his sweet, unforced southern vocals, and the general attractive shimmering that comes from his backing band of the moment. His 2009 effort In the Late Bright stays comfortably within Keene's circle of competence, recorded in his home studio with R. Walt Vincent. Keene turns up the amps with a nod towards the Rolling Stones for the punky swagger of ""Goodbye Jane."" He wanders through jangly melancholy fields for ""Save This Harmony,"" and he never runs short of songs that sound like they've been part of his catalog (""A Secret Life of Stories,"" ""Tomorrow's Gone Tonight,"" ""Realize Your Mind"") since the days when he first announced himself with ""Places That Are Gone,"" ""Run Now"" and ""Back Again (Try)."" "

Classic Keene

Top notch songs, excellent guitar licks and classic breathy vocals. When Keene entered the scene in the mid 80's his sound was timeless and that sound still holds up well today. The craft is better from experience though as is the guitar playing. Deserving of a much bigger audience.

First-rate power-pop

"In the Late Bright" is another gem in Tommy Keene's amazing 30 year career. He's showing no signs of slowing down. If you're a power-pop fan and you've never heard him, you need to check him out. The melodies are top notch, the lyrics are smart and the guitar playing is second to none. The album combines great rockers like "Please Don't Come Around" and "A Secret Life of Stories" with a few nicer slow tracks like "Sace This Harmony" plus one cool guitar instrumental "Elevated." Gin Blossoms, Goo Goo Dolls, Guided By Voices, Paul Westerburg and Velvet Crush all love Tommy Kenne. Grab this album and find out why.

Another classic!!

thanks Tommy keene!!!
