iTunes Review

Produced by Portishead’s Geoff Barrow and Adrian Utley, this fourth record sees the Wirrall peninsula’s premier psych-crusaders nudging their established formula into bold, interesting new places. Yes, in the familiar drum kicks and jangling effortlessness of “In the Morning” they nod to both the nostalgia of classic Merseybeat and lead songwriter James Skelly’s own early triumphs. But whether it’s the freewheeling Americana of “Leaving Today” or “Cripples Crown”—with its howling guitar lines and horror movie imagery—the abiding feeling is of a band brimming with confidence and in command of their infectious weirdness.

Customer Reviews

This album keeps you moving!

I heard 'In The Morning' on Pandora and liked it so I came to iTunes to get the song. Needless to say I bought the whole album because it has a very upbeat, fun groove to it. I recommend this album for your stereo on the beach/in your Jeep this summer.

Fantastic album

This album has a great feel to it, each song brings something different to the table. She Sings the Morning is a reminescent song of old rock, In the Morning, a great relaxation "feel-good" song. Arabian Sand, a crazy fast passed sort of psychedelic song. All in all a great introduction to the band. This was the first album I bought and I'm glad it was, because it gave me a feel for the band that prepared me to jump in with their other albums. Give them a shot, you'll be glad you did.

In the top 5 best bands in Britain

Unfortunately, The Coral are far from well-known in the USA, especially those of us from the west coast. Well, I'll let you in on a secret - The Coral are one of the best indie-retro-folk-rock groups in Britain and the world. This particular album has a song that is #1 on my most-listened-to playlists: "Warning to the Curious" has been played like 65 times from just my computer!

The reason that the Coral are so unknown in much of the USA is that they are so damn popular back home that they don't tour so commonly outside of the Liverpool/Manchester area.

I will end it by briefly saying that The Coral is a band of high-talent musicians that are so in love with music that they will bring a new dimension of creativity to their very original sound while still borrowing the best techniques from favorite bands that span over 40 years of musical history.

Get every one of their albums....Bring "Butterfly House" to iTunes USA ASAP!!!!!
