iTunes Review

A sullenness hangs over Incarnate, as Killswitch Engage’s penchant for breakneck tempos and searing fretwork gives way to churning grooves and foreboding melodies. It’s a shift in focus that plays out across “Embrace the Journey...Upraised,” which sees their metalcore blitz downshift into a slower, thicker rhythmic chug. “The Great Deceit” is just as telling: Though the guitars certainly ratchet up their frenzy, they never break free of the drums’ grinding pace. Singer Jesse Leach is a growling, grunting, crooning powerhouse throughout, but especially on the soaring and uniquely symphonic “We Carry On.”

This will be a shredding album. Also go away butt hurt Howard fans

Adam D, JaFo, Mike, Joel, and omg Jesse Leach. Killswitch Engage is by far the greatest metal core band that I've ever listened to! This album so far is everything I hoped for, Killswitch riffs, Adam shredding the hell out of his guitar, Justin with his blast beats, Jesse screams, and his cleans, Mikes bass riffs, and Joel just screwing around with his rhythm style. This album is basically any Killswitch Engage fan would die for. Also seriously, people say Howard was the heart and soul of the band. Jesse left for good cause, and he didn't rejoin the band for like 10 years. He left only an email with no explanation of his cause. He has more soul and peace hearted beautiful lyrical and imagination in his writing. Jesse is an inspiration to many and so is Killswitch, can't wait for this album!

Oh my....

This album reminds me of the last album in its climax to regression in sound and power... But only instrumental wise. And it's mediocre at worst which is STILL GOOD. Now Jessie's vocals on the other hand are just off the wall. Now I've been a true KSE fan since I first heard em back in 05 and I own every single album and song coming with it and I can go track for track and review everything but I won't go that far. All in all these guys delivered as promised. Triumph through tragedy(bonus track) is something really heavy and has some signature KSE grunge from the beginning to end. I wanna say I enjoy DTD's bonus tracks even more for some reason, but TTT makes up for the others mediocre sound. Any who... 🤘🏼😎✊🏽 hope all my fellow KSE heads like what they got. Keep it metal my bros....

Sounds a bit mainstream to me so far. Not what I was expecting. Guess I was spoiled long ago.

The four bandmembers who came together and created Killswitch Engage already had strong fan followings. Mike D'Antonio (bass) was formerly the leader and principal songwriter of Overcast, the legendary underground metal group. When Overcast split in 1998, D'Antonio sought for a year to find the right combination of players to fuse hardcore and metal with melody. During the summer of 1999, D'Antonio connected with Adam Dutkiewicz, who was the drummer for Aftershock, and Joel Stroetzel, Aftershock's...
