Customer Reviews

Probably the best punk record of the year

It's that great. Old school with some interesting pop and garagey elements thrown in. For fans of the Observers and other various NW bands... This will not disappoint.

Melancholy punk

Rainy Portland gives birth to The Red Dons. The city's overcast and industrial vibe seems to creep into the music. Singer Doug Burns, who was also chief songwriter for The Observers and played with a more stripped down punk act called The Speds, pens the tunes here as well as contributing the record artwork. His somber style is infectious and because he keeps the mood downcast he slips very catchy hooks in without them ever being too sweet. His voice sounds a strange cross between Shawn Stern (Youth Brigade) and Dave Wakeling (The English Beat) without being derivitive of either. This is a good record.
