The 1956 Academy Award-winning Best Picture Around the World in 80 Days not only was a box office hit, but it also boasted a soundtrack album of composer Victor Young's background score released by Decca Records that topped the Billboard chart for ten weeks. Not only that, but a copycat "studiotrack" recording of the music by the New World Theatre Orchestra got into the Top Ten, too. Not surprisingly, other orchestras wanted to get in on the act, and this is another version of the film's music helmed by bandleader Enoch Light. It is essentially similar to its predecessors, taking advantage of Young's typically tuneful music, which follows the progress of the protagonists rapidly across the globe, dipping into local musical styles along the way. The original soundtrack LP is to be preferred, of course, but this is a reasonable facsimile.
