The Infamous QB - Still Cooking (Bonus Track Version) by Big Twins on Apple Music

10 Songs

EDITORS’ NOTES

Instantly recognizable thanks to his super-gutter, subsonic flow, Big Twins (previously known as Twin Gambino) got his start as a member of Mobb Deep affiliates Infamous Mobb (aka IM3), debuting on 1996's Hell on Earth. After three group albums (Special Edition, Blood Thicker Than Water, and Reality Rap), he went the solo route, working extensively with The Alchemist and dropping joints like The Grimey Collection and The Project Kid. On his latest, he gives listeners 10 tracks loaded with hardcore storytelling that reflects on his QB pedigree while sharing the mic with longtime co-conspirators Prodigy ("Infamous") and Big Noyd ("Hood on the Map"), plus up-and-comers like Tymaxx, Sabotage 16's, and Lo'caine. Twins' unique voice continues to command attention. Standouts include the contemplative, guitar-laced "Do It for the Hood" and "QB General," featuring IM3 partner G.O.D. Pt. III.

About Big Twins

A member of the Infamous Mobb and a longtime associate of Mobb Deep, Big Twins (aka Twin Gambino) was born and raised in N.Y.C.'s Queensbridge Projects. He first appeared on Mobb Deep's 1996 album Hell on Earth on the track “Animal Instinct.” In 2002 he kicked off his career as an Infamous Mobb member with the Special Edition album; then he appeared as a solo artist on the Fat Beats, Vol. 2 compilation, which put him in the company of underground artists Atmosphere, J-Zone, and Quasimoto. The year 2002 saw him joining Mobb producer the Alchemist for a feature on Slum Village's Dirty District mixtape. In 2004 he appeared on Alchemist's 1st Infantry and acted as official MC for the album-supporting tour that followed. The duo would also land on the 2005 release Another Sound Mission from Dilated Peoples' Evidence. Next, Big Twins would guest on Big Shug's 2007 effort, Streetchamp, and then Prodigy's 2008 album, H.N.I.C., Pt. 2. Alchemist, Evidence, Prodigy, and his Mobb Deep partner Havoc, plus producer Sid Roams would all contribute to Big Twins' 2008 mixtape, The Grimey Collection. ~ David Jeffries
