Album Review

Returning to MCA after a brief detour on RCA, the Fixx resumed recording after a three-year hiatus following the release of Calm Animals with 1991's Ink. Essentially, Ink is Calm Animals with a stronger dance-rock backbeat and even fewer memorable songs. Unsurprisingly, the effort bombed upon its release, and the Fixx drew to a close shortly afterward. Ink may not have been a graceful way to bow out, yet it does offer ample evidence that the group had run out of ideas.

Although the band was unhappy it's a great album

No matter how you look at this album it's just great. The band is in top form. Some great pop tunes and some fantastic msyterious tracks as well. The last album they did before they temporarily disbanded (the fixx still tours and releases albums) and I feel better than the previous album, Calm Animals (though I like that one too). The only album the fixx did in their first decade that seemed to be a waste was REACT. not a great live album and the new studio tracks were some of their weakest. This album is well worth listening too. Try SHUT IT OUT/ YESTERDAY, TODAY /CLIMB THE HILL

The Fixx has a few great tunes on this set...

While critically ignored (and even Fixx fans are lukewarm on this effort) there are some great songs on this cd. "How Much is Enough", "No one has to cry", "Yesterday, Today", and "Crucified" all resonate as good additions to the Fixx catalog. If making your own Fixx greatest hits off iTunes, you need these tracks and a few others off Ink to round out your collection.

"One Jungle" rules!

"One Jungle" is just a fantastic song, as good or better than any they made. "Climb the Hill" and "Shut It Out" are also very good. The rest are good for the most part, but a few are just a bit sappy. Overall, a good album from a great band.

A London-based new wave group that managed to sustain a successful career in America for several years in the mid-'80s, the Fixx always flirted with the mainstream with their catchy, keyboard-driven pop. Formed by college friends vocalist/keyboardist Cy Curnin and drummer Adam Woods in the early '80s, the pair advertised in the music press for additional members; the remaining members of the group -- guitarist Jamie West-Oram, keyboardist Rupert Greenall, and bassist Charlie Barret -- all responded...
