First impression always sucks..

I'm a freshman in college now and I've been listening to Finch ever since 9th grade, around the time when they weren't as popular. I loved What It Is To Burn and always will, even tho i haven't listened to it for quite awhile now. Anyway I bought their new cd and hated it. Yea it gets 4 stars and I hated it? yes keyword "Hated", past tense. Well it just so happens that Finch is known for their quality screaming and every Finch fan knows it. Well listen, its less poppy I understand. Its not poppy because you haven't listened to any of the songs enough for them to be popping in your head all the time. With that said, go listen to it a few more times and the new sound will at least grow on you. The new album doesn't get 5 stars because well, I was hoping for another WIITB like the rest of you. Don't just eff the new sound, embrace what you hate and you will learn to love this excellent new sound that has many listeners out there dropping their jaws.

This one takes time to get into

say hello to sunshine is a much deeper, more complex album that What it is to Burn. If you are expecting a rehash of the same sound, move along. If you want to hear something fresh, new, and unique, Say Hello to Sunshine is for you. It may take awhile to get into this album, but once you've listened to it a few times, it begins to grow on you tremendously. Finch has reinvented themselves into a much more mature sound, with greater complexity in their songwriting and lyrics. It took me about two months to warm up to this one, but now I can not stop listening to it. Incredible.

grow up

just because this album had a different sound than their last doesnt mean its bad. you people take one 30 second listen and somehow it makes you Ebert of the music industry. why dont you actually buy the album, really listen to it, and make some sense of how genius this album actually is.

California-based emo rockers Finch, originally called Numb, include vocalist Nate Barcalow, guitarists Randy Strohmeyer and Alex Linares, bassist Derek Doherty, and drummer Alex Pappas. Strohmeyer actually had a hand in getting the band signed to Drive-Thru Records. The young guitarist contacted the label incessantly, intent on generating interest in his music. His fan mail and pestering even led to friendship of sorts with Drive-Thru owner Richard Reines. So when Strohmeyer inevitably pitched him...
