Album Review

This western Canadian singer/songwriter is brutally introspective, yet outgoing. After all, she's hosted the Juno Awards (Canada's version of the Grammys). She writes and sings beguilingly on this strong debut about temptation, salvation, jealousy, and loneliness. Former John Mellencamp drummer Kenny Aronoff helps to ground the album's seamless sound, and Jackson Browne drops in for "Unloved."

Customer Reviews

great albulm

I fell in love with this album years ago and continue to find it a pleasure to listen to. Not your typical, sickly sweet or overly produced pop.

I just had to write to agree with all the above reviews. This album is a timeless piece that satisfies every time I hear it. Jann's songs are so heartfelt and her singing style suits them perfectly. Some songs actually make me cry, others you just have to play loud and sing at the top of your lungs. Although there's not a single bad song, my favorites would have to be "Could I be your girl", "Demolition Love" and "Good Mother". Still great after all 10 + years...

I grew up on this.

I'm 17, and I can remember listening to this in my dad's car ten years ago. I still love it, Jann Arden is amazing.
