15 Songs, 57 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Like its emphatic title cut, Power to the People: The Hits is an electrifying reminder that John Lennon could make a deeply personal message feel universal. The 15-track singles compilation provides a stunning overview of the former Beatle's prolific solo career during the '70s. From the vibrant, Elton John-enriched funk of “Whatever Gets You Thru the Night” to the timeless beauty of “Imagine,” Power to the People: The Hits puts Lennon’s passion on full display.

I Doubt John Would Be Impressed

Admittedly, I’m a huge Lennon/Beatles fan. But I went through my shameless collection to see how many versions I had of each of these songs:
1. - 2; 2. - 2; 3. - 4; 4. - 3; 5. - 3; 6. - 3; 7. - 4; 8. - 2; 9. - 4; 10. - 4; 11. - 4; 12. - 1; 13. - 4; 14. - 2; 15. - 3. If you don’t have this collection, the $7.99 price is a steal.
But really…? The music will always live on. Unfortunately…so will his accountants.

Not Again!

John Lennon was brilliant! Let's just make sure that is understood. As a brilliant songwriter with a ten+ year solo career it should be obvious that he had more than 15 good songs. Yet as you look over the catalouge of Lennon compendiums you will find this album has already been made; 1000 times! Enough already!! And WTH isn't Working Class Hero on ANY of them!?!?!?

Please mine a bit deeper

Mine a bit deeper in the catalogue please ... Another hits album? At least Mr Lennon was more creative than this. C'mon, give his music a better showing than a repackaged hits album.
