98°' eponymous debut album is an appealing mixture of urban soul and pop-oriented hip-hop, all targeted at teens. It may lack a set of consistently engaging songs, but the best cuts suggest that the group is capable of some dynamic contemporary soul. [98°' debut album was reissued in the spring of 1998, with the Diane Warren composition "Was It Something I Didn't Say" added as a new track. The song was included after it received exposure in the film Fame L.A.]

I've loved 98 Degrees since I first heard them...this album is BEYOND great! ^_^ Everything about this screams perfection. If you like 98 Degrees and haven't heard this album yet you are missing out!

The sweet urban soul quartet 98° was formed in Los Angeles by four former Ohio residents: brothers Nick and Drew Lachey plus Jeff Timmons and Justin Jeffre. Timmons was trying to make it in the music industry, so he called Jeffre and Nick Lachey — both former classmates at the Cincinnati School for Creative and Performing Artists — and formed 98°; Drew Lachey soon moved to the West Coast as well.
