iTunes Review

Achieving elder-statesmen status in the world of hardcore music can be a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, it means you've enjoyed a long career and earned countless fans. On the other, in a genre as rigid as hardcore can be, it means those fans expect a certain stylistic uniformity. Throwdown bucked this expectation with their previous two albums, Deathless and Vendetta, wherein they experimented with melodic choruses, stratospheric solos, even harmonies—nodding to acts ranging from Pantera to Alice in Chains. For Intolerance, they go back to the basics, delivering an album that clocks in at a concise 28 minutes of near-constant brutality. From the explosive "Fight or Die" to the blitzkrieg of "Hardened by Consequence" to the caustic thrum of the title track, this is some of the most brutal music of the band's career. The standout track "Defend with Violence" serves as a mission statement: "Defend with violence/Our honor, our way of life," roars Dave Peters amid harrowing blast beats and churning guitars.

A Great Welcome Back!!!

Why aren't there more bands that write like this? This is awesome stuff man. Riffs are killer, vox are spot on nasty. What a groove. I have loved this band since "Haymaker" and am so very glad to see them back with such a killer album. Buy this and crank it all the way. Warning, this record will be infectious.

Can't make up my mind!!

I can see how the "hardcore" guys dig this album. Every song packs a wallop like a fine punch in the face! I wish the songs were a little longer and a little more diverse. Deathless was a friggin' great album all song were 9's or 10's that is very rare rating for me. This is my 2nd Throwdown album. I guess I'm more of metalhead - BlackSabbath, THC,Pantera,Primal Fear,Symphony X,Testament,Anthrax,Megadeth. I have to say I liked Deathless better. Deathless-98 Intolerence-90

Short and sweet

I'm all for musical exploration and a band expanding on their sound but it's great when a band goes back to why we starting listening to them in the first place.

Orange County, CA, has long been regarded for its contributions to the ever-expanding international hardcore scene, from the positive youth anthems of Insted to the fiery declarations of Inside Out. It's a tradition that has been carried on by Throwdown, a no-holds barred, mosh pit-conducting crew of straight-edge musicians whose lyrical self-determination is as uncompromising as their heavy music. Not afraid to attack in song those who have left their scene and its ideals behind, Throwdown isn't...
