It's John, of Course it Rules...

I'm just starting to listen to it, already love it. My favorite musician by far, based on his emotion and overall love for his craft. Anyone know why iTunes has it listed a (Live)? Its clearly not. Well, I've gotta get listening! So, just BUY IT!

Great, but inaccessible.

This album is a whiplash of sound and arrangement. Not everything John does makes sense, and it doesn't all sound good. Sometimes, the music can literally make you sick.
But - Frusciante is working with music that is challenging and fascinating and atypical. Some of these songs, like "Ratiug" and "Sum" are moving and incredible additions to his standing work. The others exist outside, in this new creative space that John is actively working through. This music is process, and it is a great privilege to be with Frusciante as he works through this new "progressive synth pop" style.

It isn't always easy to listen to, and at times John's choices of arrangements, and mixing, and effects are jarring to say the least, but by the end of the record, I felt changed to a degree. My horizons were broadened, and I understood the appeal of creating and listening to this wildly free form music.
I probably would never have chosen an album like this one without Frusciante's name on it - because I trust his artistry and I love his work. But because of this album, and Letur-Lefr, I may just pick up and listen to something in this vein, by an unknown artist.

There is something to this music, and Frusciante is working towards showing us all what exactly that is.

I like it. It's different than any music out there. I'm always inspired by John's music. The drumming is very interesting and unique.

Guitarist John Frusciante has experienced both colossal highs and death-defying lows in both his musical career and personal life. Born in 1970 and raised in California, Frusciante dropped out of high school when guitar playing and rock music took hold of the up-and-coming musician/songwriter. Embracing both the unpredictable side of rock (Frank Zappa, Steve Vai, King Crimson, Funkadelic) and punk (the Germs, Black Flag), Frusciante created his own guitar style -- combining both technical skill with...
