New Stuff, still got old sound

When The Warrior (AKA Nat McIntosh) left the band for greener pastures and endeavors with the Sotto Voce Tuba Quartet, the band was forced to find another sousaphonist to fill the void. Kenny Bentley, although without the same panache, delivers a sound all his own. Very smooth to fill out the bass lines. After hearing "Is That a Riot?" on "Live. Places.", I was excited for the release of this album to hear just what D.H. Skogen had in store for us, and the changes that he helped make. "March" kick starts the album right where YBBB left off, right in your face. The album is a little more political than I would have liked, but that's Dave's style (having met him personally). I still like to sit down and jam out to this album because it is a solid album from start to "Thanks". Nice use of the kazoo, and nice to know that brass bands don't just come from New Orleans, but also from my backyard in Madison, Wisconsin.

A Little Disappointing

After having "Unlearn" and "Center.Level.Roar" in heavy rotation in my car I had to download the new album. I was a little disappointed with the material this time around. It has become even more political and not as fun to listen to. I would crank the other two albums I own but I just can't bring myself to do it with this one. They still make great music but it is nowhere near as fun as the other two. This one might be a strech if you enjoyed the other albums as much as I did.

Not quite there

It just doesn't quite measure up to Unlearn or Center : Level : Roar. Good stuff, but the others are far superior.
