iTunes Review

Shimmering, immersive, and buoyed by a light sense of melancholy throughout, Is the Is Are is filled with stunning purpose, distilling the jangly shoegaze outfit’s early sound into something atmospheric but focused—despite its palatial, 17-track length. Highlights (including “Dopamine,” “Is the Is Are,” and the aching “Mire (Grant’s Song)”) don’t break the mood so much as surface like moments of clarity in the middle of a dream.

Inconsistent

This record is really inconsistent; there are three great tracks (Out of Mind, Under the Sun, and Dopamine), but the rest of the album just doesn't have the magic that Oshin had. I think Zach waited to long to get this out and ended up overthinking it. But there are certainly good songs here if you take the time to listen a few times.

DOPE-AMINE :)

The first two singles are incredible. Very emotional, personal lyrics. Excited to hear the rest of the album :)

Great follow up to an incredible debut

I've listened to Oshin dozens of times since it was released in 2012. ZCS has taken the best parts of the first album and experimented on making them feel larger and louder than before. The 2 guitars fit together like a glove on every track. The wall of sound generated by the 5 members of the band on every track really give your ears a workout.
