Sigur Ros Is Just Magnificent

I have every single one of Sigur Ros's albums, and I loved Valtari, but this album is to Valtari like Yin is to Yang. I love their new sound, and fortunately I have been able to hear a few of these songs live. And let me tell you, we are in a for a real treat. Sigur has never disappointed, and I think it is nearly impossible for them too. Kveikur is going to show that aggressive, darker side to Sigur Ros, something we haven't heard for such a long time (Von, Ageatis Byrjun). Do not hesitate to pre order and buy this album! I CAN'T WAIT!

New Sound

I, even if I'm somewhat alone in this thought, LOVED Valtari. But the sound that they adopted for this new LP is above and beyond anything they've done, and I'm saying that in the best way possible. Brennisteinn is a lurching beast of a song, and Isjaki is a hopefully lamenting piece. I actually think this could be their new magnum opus, beating out Agaetis Byrjun.

I really feel that the band is entering their greatest phase yet. I'm really just siked out of my mind right now.

I also saw them live and goodness, Brennisteinn was absolutely spine-tingling. Anyone who reads this should go see them live ASAP, incredible experience.

In conclusion, Sigur Ros has proven to be a band that creates music with intense beauty and emotion invoking abillities, and this album will very well be their best work to date.

True Original Artistry

I am even more thankful for this album because of so many of the mountain men-looking, hipsters with their disgusting beards, tired acoustic guitars and their ukuleles. This, right here, is true originality. Thank goodness for bands like these that always innovate and never follow.

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

Named in part after a sister of one of the bandmembers, Reykjavik, Iceland's Sigur Rós (Victory Rose) was formed by guitarist and vocalist Jon Thor Birgisson (who later went by the name Jónsi), bassist Georg Holm, and drummer Agust. Formed in early 1994 while the members were teenagers, the trio's first recorded song earned them a deal with Iceland's Bad Taste label. Their sprawling debut LP, Von (Hope), was released in 1997, followed the next year by a collection of remixes from that album, Recycle...
