Fantastic Album

This is a fantastic album. Most fans of Zappa know him from Joe's Garage, which is great. Everyone should start here though.

I believe that this was the first double album for a rock artist. No matter what, this is great, and everyone should own it.


First thing you need to understand, there is nothing that makes one artist better than any other artists. It's all a matter of opinion, and the sooner you learn that, the better. The reason people like Bob Dylan better is just because they like him better. If they listened to both Bob Dylan and the Mothers of Invention, many of them would still like Bob better. Because they're denying the truth? No. Because they're less musically educated? No. It is merely because their opinion is different than yours, and that doesn't make it any better or worse of an opinion. If you're younger than me, that would make sense and you just haven't learned yet. If you're older than me, then that's just pathetic that you haven't learned to understand and respect people's opinions.

The Mothers of Invention were led by composer, guitarist, singer, and bandleader Frank Zappa, a singular musical figure during a performing and recording career that lasted from the 1960s to the '90s. His disparate influences included doo wop music and avant-garde classical music; although the Mothers were called a rock & roll band for much of their years together, Zappa used them to create a hybrid style that bordered on jazz and complicated, modern serious music.
