EDITORS’ NOTES

With echoing children's voices and portentous piano melodies, opener “Every 27 Years” sets the right tone for IT. The distressing and melodic tunes of Benjamin Wallfisch’s soundtrack oscillate between the innocence of childhood (“Paper Boat”) and the terror of potentially discovering what really lies in the depths of the film’s murky basements and sewers (“You’ll Float Too”).

Magnificent in Every Sense of the Word

lucycparish123,

IT as a film has so much more to offer than jump scares and terrifying special effects that will hoard in all those scary movie lovers. For it's a movie that breathes childhood nostalgia upon you every second, makes you laugh alongside your fellow audience members, and sit in awe at the unsettling nature of the entity, IT, we see in the film. Not only is it a good horror film with a solid plot and phenomenal characterization, but it's a spectacular coming of age story at its finest. And the soundtrack is no different. Benjamin Wallfisch has done an epic job at creating a score filled with curiosity, terror, suspense, romance, hope, and the overwhelming feeling of becoming your own person while dealing with outside world forces. The soundtrack is of stunning quality and has a beautiful variety of sounds and ear experiences. One track you're being screamed at by a screeching noise, the next your alongside Beverly and her exploration of teen sexuality, which is accompanied by stellar strings and piano, amongst other instruments of course. I highly recommend not only a view of the film itself, but a proper listen session for this soundtrack.
