iTunes Review

With the 2008 comeback project The Power and the Glory Hole Faster Pussycat vocalist Taime Downe successfully fused the barroom metal of his band’s early years with his more recent love for industrial music. In that balance of styles the album slightly favored industrial, but this 2009 live album reverses that ratio, and brings the classic Faster Pussycat sound back to the fore. Recorded over the course of the band’s 2008 tour, Front Row for the Donkey Show includes the best of the band’s old songs, but they are delivered with added force and muscle. Even though the band includes no original members, the new lineup (comprised of members of Downe’s industrial act Newlydeads) captures the rude swing of the original article, but cuts out all the hair-metal fluff. Old party anthems like “Babylon,” “Bathroom Wall” and “Cathouse” (featured here in its original uncensored version) sit easily next to recent inventions like “Number 1 With a Bullet,” “Sex Drugs and Rock & Roll” and “Shut Up and F**k.” Faster Pussycat was a band that always wanted to rock harder and heavier than its hair metal audience would allow.

Rerecorded songs...only recorded worse.

I love FP's early stuff and even some mixes. But this is terrible. Sorry Taime, try something novel. The industrial sound is getting old.

I dont usually dig live albums but this one soundz great and i love Taime's vocals!!! A must 4 FP fans!!!

it's not so bad

this is not rerecorded versions of songs. it is a live album. this is what the band sounds like now. the guitars have an industrial feel at times, but it's not industrial. it's just rock n' roll. it's not great by any means, but it's not terrible. some might like, others won't.

Sleazy Hollywood metal band Faster Pussycat (whose name was lifted from a Russ Meyer flick) released their first album in 1987 and peaked commercially two years later with the gold album Wake Me When It's Over and the Top 40 single "House of Pain." Although their next album, 1992's Whipped, hit number 90 on the charts, it fell off quickly; with the alternative rock explosion, the hard rock audience had changed and had no patience for Faster Pussycat's trashy glam metal. After the group's split, singer...
