A darling update, though theatre fans might side-eye a bit...

The original score is so special that any iteration has its charm! I understand the stylistic changes and think the music will likely serve the film well. The new song, "Opportunity" by Sia, is lush and an exciting addition to the piece. To my ear, though, the pitch correction throughout the album is jarring. I almost wish some of the singing performances could have just been dubbed. Either way, it's nice that a whole new audience gets to experience Broadway's most optimistic musical!

Broadway musical--- Annie 2014?¿

This album is a bit upsetting to me, considering that I have played the role of Annie before, and that I am a huge theatre lover... I completely understand that the general concept of this film is to give a new perspective to the life of a New York City orphan, however, I wish that the songs remained closer to the Broadway originals.
The singing in these songs are auto-tuned as well as sung very poorly vocally. I feel as though this album has created a completely new story, differentiating drastically from the original broadway musical. Songs such as: I don't need anything but you, NYC, and I Think I'm gonna like it here, as well as many others, disappoint me concerning how far off they are from the original soundtrack. All I can say, is that this album represents Annie completely differently than the broadway musical, and will impact the Annie stereotype for our society's younger generations to come.
