Customer Reviews

why not buy her album...?

Amy Winehouse is a great artist and even though she is having personal issues that doesnt mean that you should boycott her album. how rediculous would it be for a person to not purchase her album because of a song like Rehab?! I mean really now...who is that passive?!

Brillant !!

Finally iTunes felt like adding another album for Amy Winehouse. Dont understand why it takes so long to get the same amount of singles, albums and videos the UK gets. Amy has fans in the US as well iJerks!

Sex, Drugs, Rock n Roll

Not sure about the other review, but it's my understanding that it is her well-meaning, but misguided, father who actually made the request for fans to boycott Amy's work. This collection of raw, beautifully interpreted material should not be passed up by any fan. Shame that it took a Brit to remind America what rock and roll really means. After years of being awash in weak, pseudoformer Christian bands like Creed (we don't drink caffeine and go to bed by 11) and Evanescence (how many veiled Jesus references *can* we get in an album?), it is refreshing to see a traditional American musical form return to its live hard and die young roots. I'm sure Janis Joplin can finally quit spinning in her grave. Thank God for Miss Winehouse and everyone one of her beautiful addictions that imparts fire and soul back into rock and roll.

The British press and tabloids seemed to focus on her rowdy behavior, heavy consumption of alcohol, and tragic end, but fans and critics alike embraced her rugged charm, brash sense of humor, and distinctively soulful and jazzy vocals. Her platinum-selling breakthrough album, Frank (2003), elicited comparisons ranging from Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughan to Macy Gray and Lauryn Hill. Interestingly...
