This New England trio returned from a 12-year hiatus with Circles Around the Sun—and on this exclusive release, the indie-folk band performs several rootsy tracks from that 2012 album, as well as a few tunes from Bang Bang and an effervescent cover of Paul Simon’s “Mother & Child Reunion.” The slightly raspy, ultra-rhythmic vocals on the opening cut, “Not Messin’,” glide into hip-hop territory (à la Sublime and Everlast), while the breezy vibe of “Bang Bang” calls Jack Johnson to mind. Dispatch also has a penchant for inspirational, pastoral-tinted storytelling, as highlighted by the sweeping, handclap-dappled “Get Ready Boy.”
