"In the ear of the beholder"...

Wow! I bought this 8-track brand new when I was 14, simply on the known strengths of previous LP's "They Only Come Out At Night", "Shock Treatment", & "Roadwork". I never got the impression this was a 'jazz & gospel' flavored LP any more than any of his other offerings. All I know about 1970's Edgar is this: he never failed to bring 100% when he unloaded a new LP on his fans. His approach was energy and his method was exciting. Take whatever 'style' this LP might have and split hairs over it as you see need to...I'll be in my bedroom with my headphones on feeling like I'm 14 all over again. This is a good record, folks!

Edgar's Chameleon Trait

Wow!!...I was one of those guys fortunate enough to see the Winter Brothers in their beginnings ( I know , I know..I'm telling my age)..but seeing these guys in concert is one of those super memories I'll take to the grave. "Jasmine Nightdreams"..was one of those albums I camped out for,..since I have the Winters entire library, I really wanted to see how this album shifted from style to style. This was one of Edgar's favorite vehicles. He loved to explore everything from Jazz to R&B and then back to sizzling Rock and Roll. I remember seeing him perform the multifaceted "All Out /Sky Train / Solor Strut" set,..during this concert..he went right into "Frankenstein", showing off his Jazz Rock Fusion prowess. Let's face it folks,..they don't make musicians and or performers like this anymore,..enjoy.

Classic Edgar!

I got this in vinyl in my senior year of high school and it was one of the few albums where I would actually turn it over to listen to both sides. As a musician I loved the variety and versatility of all the tunes from the mellow to the rockin' to the jazzy, it has it all and done excellently from a great talent.

Although he's often skirted the edges of blues music, at heart, saxophonist, keyboardist and composer Edgar Winter is a blues musician. Raised in Beaumont, TX, the younger brother of ukulele player and guitarist Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter has always pushed himself in new directions, synthesizing the rock, blues and jazz melodies he hears in his head. As a consequence, his fan base may not be what it could have been, had he made a conscious effort -- like his brother Johnny -- to stay in a blues-rock...
