Strange Nights of Stone: The Bright Midnight Archives Concerts, Vol. II (Live)

Strange Nights of Stone: The Bright Midnight Archives Concerts, Vol. II (Live)

The surviving Doors continued to see unflagging interest in the band well after its dissolution, even though the last Doors record with Jim Morrison had been in 1971, the year of his death. Bootleggers were selling inferior-quality "albums" for exorbitant prices. In response, the remaining Doors formed Bright Midnight Archives to properly release their unreleased material, improving the fidelity and uncovering tapes no one else had found. This exhaustive collection includes the complete concerts from Pittsburgh, Boston (two shows), and Vancouver that had been used to assemble The Doors' official live album, Absolutely Live. This also features a 1967 show at San Francisco's Matrix, the Hollywood Bowl performance from 1968, and a complete tape of rehearsals. The Doors were known for their unparalleled live performances, where the group's improvisatory sense and Morrison's unpredictable instincts made for raw, exciting concerts unlike any other. This provides more than ample proof of those claims.
