iTunes Review

The Black Crowes were never able to match the mainstream commercial success of their first album, 1990's Shake Your Money Maker, even as they gained respect and hardcore fans. This greatest-hits album collects material from The Black Crowes' first five albums and contains nearly every song a casual fan would want. The four tracks from Money Maker—"Jealous Again," "Twice As Hard," "Hard to Handle," "She Talks to Angels"—are essential listening, and the four from The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion—"Remedy," "Sting Me," "Thorn in My Pride," "Bad Luck Blue Eyes Goodbye"—show the Crowes achieving their own identity. Two tunes apiece from Amorica and Three Snakes and One Charm show the band branching out stylistically, while the four tunes from By Your Side signal The Black Crowes' need to satisfy their record label with some serious rock.

black crowes rock!

this is basically every song you need, if youre just a casual black crowes fan. im sure everyone knows "hard to handle". if you like that song you'll like alot of them. best songs: Remedy, she talks to angels, kickin my heart around, sting me, hard to handle

Lot's to crow about, but a few missing crumbs

Where's Hotel Illness? And Sometimes Salvation? My advice: lose Go Faster and Blackberry and add the aforementioned classics. This album gives you most of the best stuff, worth buying if you're looking to add some BC to your collection.

Not good enough

I am a huge crowes fan and this is just not enough for me. The are way too many good songs missing thats why I have bought every crowes album because I still havent come acrosse one bad crowes song.

At the time of their 1990 debut, the kind of rock & roll the Black Crowes specialized in was sorely out of style. Only Guns N' Roses came close to approximating a vintage Stones-style raunch, but they were too angry and jagged to pull it off completely. The Black Crowes, on the other hand, replicated that Stonesy swagger and Faces boogie perfectly. Vocalist Chris Robinson appropriated the sound and style of vintage Rod Stewart, while brother Rich Robinson fused Keith Richards' lean guitar attack...
