iTunes Review

Funky synth leads, ’80s drum machines, and a well-studied electro revivalism give Chromeo’s fourth full-length album a sophisticated, sparkling vintage sheen. Even though the sharp-witted wordplay that established the duo’s reputation on tunes like “Bonafied Lovin” and “Momma’s Boy” is here in spades, the crack execution of White Women is no joking matter. The dazzling “Sexy Socialite” drops a coy pick-up line (“I wish you were a socialist instead of worrying about your name on the list.”) over a white-hot groove. Elsewhere, contributions from Toro y Moi, Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig, and Solange round out the duo’s dance-oriented triumph.

u mad edm fans?

i like electro funk but some of the songs need to be thought through. Are they worth it to be on the album?

White Women

Hands down, Chromeo's best album. It's so polished and every song is as great as the next. It was well worth the wait!

Electro-funk duo Chromeo formed in Montreal in the early 21st century, a project of former hip-hop producers Dave 1 and P-Thugg (news flash: not their given names). Dave handled guitars and vocals; P was the talkbox-wielding synth specialist. From the beginning, Chromeo made it clear that the name of their well-dressed game would be artful detachment, earnest songwriting, retro breakdowns, and gleaming plastic beats -- not serious intent or aggressive musical regime change. The "Destination Overdrive"...
