After all this time what and uninspired effort. I'm starting to wonder if Louis Clark was more responsible for the ELO sound that we knew

Not really an ELO album

I had very mixed feelings about this album. Apart from one or two songs it really sounds like a Jeff Lynne solo album with a few songs that sound like “B” sides from a Traveling Wilburys album. The album is inconsistent and quite frankly a little boring. I understand wanting to use the ELO moniker for marketing purposes, but then the music should have been tailored that way. It still is nice to hear new music from a legend, but count me as a disappointed.

Picking up where ELO left off

It doesn’t sound like Out of the Blue by any stretch but, if ELO stayed together as a band, I’m sure this is the sound that would be heard. Most of the reviews are complaints about how it doesn’t sound like 1977 ELO. Musicians evolve in stylistic directions. Jeff Lynne’s music has evolved nicely and he found a way to modernize the ELO sound. The album is definitely great compared to 98% of the stuff out there today.
