Editors’ Notes

The GRAMMY®-winning talent’s first album since 2008’s Flavors of Entanglement comes shortly after the outspoken artist got married and gave birth. These life-changing experiences inform this confessional collection, which bubbles with empowerment, aggression, and serenity. The introspective ride kicks off with a faint lullaby-like whirring that’s quickly engulfed by fuzzed-out guitar and cascading melodies, courtesy of plinking piano, glockenspiel, and more six-string (“guardian”). This rolls into an undulating, electro-tinged screed against “snakes” who vilify others (“woman down”). By the third song, the mezzo-soprano delivers a weightless ballad (“'til you”). This opening trio is emblematic of the album’s fresh, well-rounded sound. The common thread throughout havoc and bright lights is the masterful use of soaring, instantly catchy choruses as the evolving artist reflects on the nature of relationships—whether as a caretaker, celebrity, or an equal partner. This Deluxe Version contains a bonus track and the video for "guardian."

Had higher hopes but still worth it.....

After hearing Gaurdian I thought this was going to be a new Alanis and throughout this album she still seems to rely on the old formula that works. Don't get me wrong this is a good album but a good bit of it isn't worth listening to at all. Guardian,Woman Down, Empathy, Spiral, Numb, Edge of Evolution and Recieve are really the standouts here the rest is forgettable. Still worth the purchase. Just save yourself a few bucks and buy the regular album the deluxe version offers nothing really.

Welcome back alanis!!!

WOW! As a longtime alanis fan, I must say this is her best album since the legendary Jagged Little Pill!! Not a weak track in the bunch! I beg of you to purchase this one.... It's a keeper!

HABL is another singular snapshot of her current journey - for those seeking refuge from the vapid airwaves. With a musical prowess only she can offer. " she's back to her old tricks "

Singer/songwriter Alanis Morissette became one of the most unlikely stars of the 1990s on the strength of her third album, Jagged Little Pill. A former child actress turned dance-pop diva, Morissette transformed herself into a confessional alternative singer/songwriter in the vein of Liz Phair and Tori Amos. However, she bolstered that formula with enough pop sensibility, slight hip-hop flourishes, and marketing savvy to become a superstar. Jagged Little Pill, released in 1995, spun off six highly...
