iTunes Review

Chariots of Fire isn’t defined by an image, but by Vangelis’ music. With its shimmering, half-stepping rhythm, the title theme is not quite orchestral, yet not totally electronic. It’s overwhelmingly catchy, yet it’s not pop music. The somber and ethereal keyboard piece “Abraham’s Theme” is as strong alone as when paired with the film, while “Jerusalem” locates a haunting intersection of religious music and ambient composition. At once coldly futuristic and tender, “Eric’s Theme” exemplifies the composer’s singular sensibility.
