Ekseptional Innovators!

For those who are not familiar with the works of Ekseption, this album provides a solid overview of their ability to innovate using classical, jazz and R&B music as the foundation. The essence of Ekseption comes out in their playful interpretation of classical music in Nocturne and Jesu Joy, where they take a whirlwind tour that captures the soul of the Bach cantatas with perfection. The jazz and R&B influenced tracks demonstrate Ekseption's skillful approach in re-interpreting themes that have been used by others. Unfortunately, some of Ekseption's top works, such as Air and Sabre Dance, are not on this compilation, which accounts for my only giving 4 stars; let's hope that Apple will manage to get the rest of Ekseption's work into iTunes for all to enjoy.
