they have changed a LOT, but the gospel roots are great!!!

i was surprised that snowden didn't play any of these songs during their recent tour with ¡forward, russia! as they definitely demonstrate the band's intense southern gospel roots. i was hoping to hear Everything to Me at the chapel hill show, but they stayed on course with their drone-inspired, boeing-esque brand of rock. chandler's drums on Good News definitely pays tribute to the late legend Buddy Rich and Corinne's backing vocals on Where Ever You Are (A True Love Song), although different from the sensual background moaning on Anti-Anti, are worthy of a grammy nod. david and jordan's duet in the title track allows us to get a glimpse into the powerful emotion that influenced Between the Rent and Me on their followup LP. snowden has definitely changed a lot, but this first album is an excellent start to a long and prosperous career. jade tree records is known for helping young gospel talent evolve into modern rockers and this is no exception. this is a very cool record. buy it.

itunes messed up on this one!

this album is definitely NOT by the indie band SNOWDEN. DONT BUY THIS ALBUM IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR INDIE ROCK. this is gospel music, very very different bands, very different music!

The first reviewer claiming this was the indie rock Snowden was clearly joking, you can tell by his tongue-in-cheek approach to the writing. This is not the Snowden you'll probably be looking for, although "Jesus" is a cool album title...

Snowden had its start in 2004 in Jeffares' bedroom during his senior year in college. The demo recordings impressed Jeffares' brother, who introduced him to like-minded musicians. Now a quartet, the band found local success with a self-released EP, which encouraged them to travel to New York for shows....
