You have to open THIS Back Door

I cannot believe my eyes, and you won't believe your ears. Back Door on iTunes. I am not really a jazz guy, I'm a rocker for sure. Back in 1973 my friend played this lp for me and I flipped. This lp was recorded in their managers living room. They pressed it themselves and sold it themselves as well. A real indie lp if there ever was one. After it was a local hit, being traded for pints of scotch, Warner Bros. picked it up and the band had a very small amout of success. Enough to get Felix Pappalardi to produce the next album. But back to this lp. 3 guys playing like you have never heard in your life. The tunes are completely original, the playing is fierce and tasty as well. Check out Vienna Breakdown and Catcote. Colin Hodgkinson plays bass better than anyone I've ever heard. This is a must have if there ever was one. Back Door, please enter.

What sets Back Door apart is the bass playing. While a few bassists — such as Chris Squire, John Entwistle, and Jack Bruce — have tried exploiting the bass' potential as a lead instrument, they were confined by bands...
