A Great New Beginning

Sony/Columbia lets Perahia, one of the most consistent and beloved pianists of generations, go. DG gets him - it's like a great free agent signing. Perahia hits it out of the ballpark here. Not only is the performance beautiful, exquisite, and moving, but the sound! - Perahia never sounded this great in the studio. Just a beautiful record here.

Poor Bach performance

This is overall a very poor performance of Bach. It is poorly informed, from a historical perspective, and sounds much more like some 19th century, Romantic, adaptation. A much better interpretation of these suites is that of Gould (there are others).
