Editors’ Notes

This collection features the four albums that Joni Mitchell recorded for Geffen Records between 1982 and 1991: Wild Things Run Fast (1982), Dog Eat Dog (1985), Chalk Mark in a Rain Storm (1988), and Night Ride Home (1991). From the mid-‘70s onward, Mitchell’s genius was ahead of the times, while still reflecting the tone of the era in which she worked. Wild Things explores R&B. Dog Eat Dog experiments with synthesizers. Chalk Mark has guest musicians while Native American ideas flow. Night Ride is stripped down by comparison and excels with strong songs throughout.

Customer Reviews

It's NOT "Complete"

Two very important and interesting songs -- a demo of "Two Grey Rooms" and a song by Bob Dylan -- that are available on the album are NOT -- I repeat NOT -- available for downloading on iTunes. Before you spend money on the iTunes version, consider buying the truly COMPLETE album from another source.

Great... but it's Joni MITCHELL (not Michell)

Good grief, you'd think iTunes would know how to at least spell her name correctly.

what an odd write-up for iTunes

They sold me on the box set... but they sold me on going to the store to buy the box and not download it. The whole first paragraph is about how great the liner notes and booklet are... none of which is here on the iTunes version. The albums are great and although were a bit confusing at the time, have gotten better with age.

No female artist better typified the singer/songwriter movement of the '70s than Joni Mitchell, though her public image as the serious, sensitive woman with a guitar shortchanged her abilities, ambitions, and accomplishments. Mitchell's gift for writing personal, folk-inspired songs about the thorny side of life and love was inarguable (particularly on albums like 1970's Ladies of the Canyon and 1971's Blue), but Mitchell also brought the same smarts and eloquence to glossy pop on her commercial...
