The exciting of his beginnings, and the madurity of his present, all in one pack

Once again, Florez proves that he is the King of bel canto with this fantastic new album, dedicated to the memory of Rubini, his equivalent in the 19th century. Singing again, Bellini, Rossini and Donizetti, in new operas and new roles: From 'Pirata' Bianca e Fernando' and 'Guglielmo Tell' among others. His singing is fresh and the voice thicker and creamy. this recital brings us back to his first Rossini album, but with a new sound, this time very well accompanied by the enthusiastic Roberto Abbado. My favs here are 'Elisabetta' Bianca e Fernando, and the outstanding new version of the classic 'O muto asil' from Guglielmo Tell' where Florez attacks the upper notes , with a suicide 10 second high C at the end.
