The Calling are a modern rock band circa 2001 comprised of a bunch of reasonably decent-looking 20somethings with a slick, glossy sheen who perform anthemic ("Unstoppable") and balladic ("Wherever You Will Go") songs on Camino Palmero.

Freshman year of college...

I'm instantly transported back to my freshman dorm where my roommates and I caught on to The Calling before the craze hit everyone else. Each track on the album is unique and the entire disk is easy to listen to in one sitting. Great road-trip cd!

Co-founded in 1999 by vocalist Alex Band and guitarist Aaron Kamin, the Calling found a home amongst such ready-for-radio rock acts of the early 21st century as Matchbox Twenty, Train, and Fastball. Kamin and Band, both natives of Los Angeles, co-founded the group as teenagers (Kamin was dating Band's sister at the time), and a development deal with RCA followed shortly thereafter. Instrumental role players were recruited and an album was recorded, resulting in the release of Camino Palmero in July...
