Bottom of the barrel By Lizardjuice

While The Jerry Richards and Ron tree version of Hawkwind showed alot of promise, this version of the band just could not seem to get off the ground. both "Distant Horizons" and the following effort "In Your Area" have hardly a decent song betwwen them. By far the two weakest albums in the Hawk catalog. Both albums are seemingly piecemeal efforts, populated by weak live cuts of older material, or with endless electronic instrumentals. The hardcore might still find something to enjoy on these albums but the average fan will find Hawkwind at their nadir. This lineup was soon to disintergrate. Richard and Tree would soon turn up in the new band Hawklords, along with other ex-Hawk alumni, Harvey Bainbridge, Adrian Shaw, and Steve Swindalls to much greater effect.

Any sci-fi fan with a long memory probably remembers those 1970s' DAW paperback editions of Michael Moorcock's sword-and-sorcery novels, with their images of heavily armored, very muscular warriors carrying large swords and standing against eerie landscapes and starscapes.
