VERY strong debut album

I am so glad I stumbled upon The Republic Tigers and their new album "Keep Color." It's a unique blend of indie, folk, psychedelia, and just plain pop, and it's amazing. I was hooked from "Buildings and Mountains," and the whole album is extremely strong. They manage to keep things interesting all the way through without making things too scattered. The Republic Tigers have a great ability to write melodies that get stuck in your head and demand another listen. Also, the layers of guitar and synth are competently arranged to provide a fantastic backdrop. It's obvious to me that a great deal of time was spent writing and recording this album, and it paid off. This is one of the best debuts I've heard in quite a while. Favorite Tracks: Buildings & Mountains, Golden Sand, The Nerve

Roma has it, you should too.

Marisha and I bought this album as a gift for our daughter's first birthday yesterday (Cinco de Mayo). Owning the Republic Tigers' Keep Color officially makes Roma the coolest little one-year-old on planet Earth, and beyond. In response to her first go-around with these 12 amazing songs, Roma says, "Agu-gu-dada. Dedo! Da-da-da!"

Masterpiece layered with melody goodness

Wow! Take everything you love about innovative music of the "now" and combine it with everything you love about music of the "then" and you have KEEP COLOR by The Republic Tigers. It's hard to pin a particular sound on them, which is also what I love so much about them and this album. It's kinda like Bread meets Blonde Redhead meets The Shins... if that helps at all. It's packed with beautiful melodies that are sure to stick in your mind no matter where you are, whether that be at work, or the shower, or in your car, or maybe while cooking dinner, who knows?!. The point is... This is an album I promise will put a smile on your face.

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s

Hailing from Kansas City, MO, the Republic Tigers spike their lushly orchestrated indie rock with organic and synthetic elements. Co-founder Kenn Jankowski originally moved to Kansas City in 1999 and began playing guitar for the People, a band that later changed its name to the Golden Republic. He also made fast friends with local musician Adam McGill, and when Golden Republic disbanded seven years later, the two multi-instrumentalists opted to launch their own pop-based project.
