Keep Me In Your Heart For a While: The Best of Madeleine Peyroux

Keep Me In Your Heart For a While: The Best of Madeleine Peyroux

This well-balanced career retrospective includes songs from all the record labels that Madeleine Peyroux has recorded for since 1996. This Paris-based, American-born jazz singer’s steady evolution from a pure bluesy-jazz Billie Holiday–styled vocalist (as heard on her 1996 debut album Dreamland) to a sophisticated singer of popular song throughout the ’00s finds its logical conclusion with the previously unreleased Warren Zevon cover and title track “Keep Me in Your Heart,” which appeared in the 2011 film Union Square. Other highlights include her interpretations of Leonard Cohen, Elliott Smith, and The Eagles.
