Reseña de álbum

When James Brown popularized funk in the 1960s, he elevated repetition to an art form in the R&B world. The cardinal rule became "find the perfect groove and work it to death," and the goal was musical hypnosis. Brown, of course, didn't single-handedly invent musical repetition — in India, Hindu musicians were celebrating the joys of repetition centuries before he was even born. But the Godfather did pave the way for numerous funk, disco, house, Latin freestyle, jungle, and trance artists who liked to stay on the groove. In the 1970s, the use of repetition worked wonders for everyone from Parliament/Funkadelic and the Ohio Players to Donna Summer and Cerrone — and the value of repetition certainly wasn't lost on Mass Production, whose hypnotic funk-disco continued to sound fresh on its second album, Believe. There are no signs of a sophomore slump on this LP; the club DJs who went wild over MP's first album were equally impressed with exuberant, ultra-danceable offerings like "Free and Happy," "People Get Up," and "I Believe in Music." The record also contains a few dreamy soul ballads, including "Keep My Heart Together" and "Being Here." But Believe is party album first and foremost, and it's an exciting one.

This set of tracks was what i've been waiting for for many years.Mass Production is an outfit that had the vocals and the vibes.I've collected all their vinyl records and to see the day that it is here on itunes simply the best way to access music today.Love you "Apple" and Mass Production for all the funk.Wow what a group and the way they went at each song concept and to have Jimmy Douglas as the engineer at the time.My heart is free and my mind is clear without any distractions at the moment. :+)

Oh Yeah Baby - BELIEVE It!!

If you are a fan of Mass Production, you should add this entire album to your collection! It never received the airplay that it deserved, but it is to me, their best overall body of work. I saw Mass Production at a college concert in Illinois just before this album was released. They were fantastic! Their musicianship was unbelievable as they easily transitioned from dance songs to slow songs and everything in between. "Free and Happy" is one hellava track and it still makes me shake my groove thang. "Cosmic Lust" is a wonderufl, jazz-influenced track. Just check out the instrumental solos within that song. My favorite song from this album is "Keep My Heart Together". The inner-play between the female and male vocalist is great and the guitar solo is top-notch. So glad this album is available again.
