Album Review

Kenny G's music has always been pop-oriented, so a Greatest Hits collection serves him much better than it would if he were a straight jazz musician. The 17-track collection rounds up all of his pop Top 40 hits and many of his adult contemporary favorites, including "Songbird," "Don't Make Me Wait for Love," "Silhouette," "Forever in Love," "By the Time This Night Is Over," "How Could an Angel Break My Heart," and "Everytime I Close My Eyes." For collectors, there are a couple of non-LP tracks — his Sinatra duet "All the Way/One for My Baby" and "Theme from Dying Young" — plus the previously unreleased "Loving You," "Baby G," and the Michael Bolton duet "You Send Me." While the non-LP cuts are worthy inclusions, the new tracks are marginal and tend to weigh down the lengthy album. Nevertheless, all of Kenny G's hits are here, which makes it an ideal choice for casual fans.

Customer Reviews

Must have for your collection!

Truly an amazing talent and gifted saxophone player! I love all of the songs, but Havana is my favorite because of its sensuality!

A Jazz Legend

If you enjoy Jazz music or like the smooth sound of the sax you probably already love Mr.G
I got this CD years ago as a gift. It's a really good sample of his greatest work. My faves are 4,1, & 11

Remember

I remember getting this album around 10 years ago from a family member when I was a kid. I listened to it every night. I still remember my favorite songs and I can still remember why I enjoy jazz because of this cd.

Kenny G has long been the musician many jazz listeners love to hate. A phenomenally successful instrumentalist whose recordings make the pop charts, Kenny G's sound has been a staple on adult contemporary and smooth jazz radio stations since the mid-'80s, making him a household name. Kenny G is a fine player with an attractive sound (influenced a bit by Grover Washington, Jr.) who often caresses melodies, putting a lot of emotion into his solos. Because he does not improvise much (sticking mostly...
