Worn to a nub

If you love house, buy this album. One of the first records that I bought was The Mood EP from Gramaphone in Chicago. Back when I was learning how to spin I wore that record into oblivion. This just reminds me of my parents basement and making mixtapes on my booty tape player. Love it, and I'm definitely playing Rain next time I spin out.

About Kerri Chandler

One of the best garage producers and remixers during the 1990s was Kerri "Kaoz 6:23" Chandler, a native of garage-central New Jersey and a DJ by the time he was nine years old. Influenced by his father (also a mixer in his own time), Chandler began producing tracks by the time he was 15, with help from fellow Jersey-ites like Tony Humphries and Michael Watford. His tracks for King St., Strictly Rhythm, Large, Nervous and his own Madhouse Records made him one of the top producers in the garage scene by the early '90s, with a discography including club landmarks like "(You're My) Inspiration," "Hallelujah," and "Stompin' Grounds" as well as more introspective, jazzy works like 1993's The Atmosphere EP. Chandler's first production LP was 1997's KAOZ on King St., followed a year later by the mix-album/hits-collection Kaoz Theory. Three mix albums appeared during 2000-01, after which Chandler released A Basement, A Red Light & A Feelin', Vol. 2, a compilation of production tracks for Madhouse. In 2003, he issued Trionisphere and Trionisphere Live. ~ John Bush
