iTunes Review

Aside from the playful “Choo Choo Train” and the bouncy “Leave My Dog Alone,” Kid Stuff isn’t an album of children's songs per se—but that’s not to say the little people in your life can't go-go dance to these tracks like miniature extras from Shindig! or Hullabaloo. Another must-have for all Nancy Sinatra fans, this 2008 compilation balances some of her better-known tunes (“These Boots Are Made for Walkin’,” "Sugar Town," "Cuff Links and a Tie Clip") with a generous portion of previously unreleased recordings and lesser-known album gems. Fans of '60s English freakbeat and mod-tailored rock ‘n’ roll will surely gush over Sinatra’s whimsical cover of “Flowers in the Rain,” a 1967 pre-psychedelic nugget by The Move. And though “Rockin’ Rock and Roll” and Lee Hazlewood’s “The City Never Sleeps at Night” are equally groovy, a few of her more romantic serenades turn up here. “You’re Gonna Make Love to Me” is catchy and flirty, while her duet with her father Frank (“Feelin’ Kinda Sunday”) is heartwarming.

Nancy Sinatra was born in the Summer of 1940, while her father, Frank Sinatra, was singing with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra; as the daughter of show business royalty, Nancy...
