Album Review

Working on a well-worn formula could have spelled trouble for the Greg Kihn Band, but on Kihntagious, they've come through without so much as a scratch. Includes the hit "Reunited," along with eleven other good pop reasons to catch the Kihn fever. Well worth a listen.

I'm not sure I was infected (but it's probably me)

I am a huge Kihn Band fan (see my reviews of their other LP's), but this is not my favorite LP. The reason for that probably has more to do with me then anything else. This is by no means a terible album, in fact I'm sure many Kihn fans really like it. The problem for me is that most of the songs feature a dance/funk sound to them, and I'm more a pop/rock kinda guy (which is why I'm a Kihn fan). The highlights for me are: "Reunited" which is a great rocker and should have been a follow-up hit to "Jeopardy", but which according to Mr. Kihn was scuttled by record company politics (whata shame)/"Confrontation Music" which is a reggae style song with some nice Greg Douglass syncopated picking and slide and a great oh oh oh vocal refrain/"Cheri Baby" which is a cover of a Hot Chocolate ("You Sexy Thing"-go figure) song and a good rocker with Larry Lynch doing a Buddy Holly drum sound and Gary Phillips throwing in some good keyboard in the background/ and "Work, Work, Work" which manages to pack a real rock punch into 2:30 which like all the classic early rock hits shows it's not length but spirit that matters. It has a nice bass riff by Steve Wright, and some good slide by Douglass. Look for a 12" EP which has a couple of extended versions of "Reunited" to add to this LP.

Yay, they're re-releasing this

This album was on iTunes about 6 months ago but it had the wrong songs on it, duplicating the previous Greg Kihn album "Kihnspiracy." Listening to the samples, they have this corrected and will re-release this in two days.

This album is not as good as Rockihnroll/Kihntinued/Kihnspiracy, but it's not too far behind, and the band is still in peak form. It's an enjoyable listen, good summertime music; a worthy addition to the collection of any GKB fan. Looking forward to its release.
