Rapzilla.com Presents … King Kulture

Ever since hip-hop hit the scene, critics, parents, and politicians have loudly complained about its negative lyrics and perceived glorification of violence, misogyny, and drug use. Though rap has always had this element, there are countless well-meaning, forward-minded artists who rarely get the same type of coverage or airplay. And Christian rappers are all but invisible outside of their devoted fanbases, despite some excellent music and prolific discographies. This 16-track compilation comes to us from the heads at Rapzilla.com, a longstanding online magazine that focuses on the righteous side of beats and rhymes. With proceeds going to fund education in Africa, this promotes a good cause along with good music. It's loaded with contributing acts (veterans as well as new jacks), and while not every track is a banger, most are rock solid. Highlights come from Braille ("Lift Up"), Yaves the Street Pastor and Ron Riley ("Beautiful Struggle"), Young Joshua ("Fight On"), and Grits ("Beautiful Thing").
