Customer Reviews

An incredible fusion of funk, rock, pop, jazz and classic R&B

Kleeer was so great that their music could not be described, they had the perfect blend of everything and always gave positive messages with their songs; truly ahead of their time. I picked up this album when I was 15 years old and it's still in my rotation today- Kleeer's music was too good to be understood by the masses. Only true lovers of music can appreicate their grooves. If you love discovering great music, check out this timeless band!

Kleeer was the most underrated group of its era. I wonder what the execs at Atlantic were thinking in the late 70's and early 80's when they didn't push this group into super stardom? I had the privilege of seeing them open for Prince and Rick James in the early 80's. This band was even better live. I am so happy that their music is available now on iTunes. You've gotta get it!

True Funk

Kleeer is truly the "Funk Master" of their era. Their music showcases one of the tightest rhythm sections since the James Brown days with heavy bass lines and strong drum accents that give body to the music while maintaining a nasty groove. The strings add a nice airy touch to balance the sound. Kleeer rocks! Their grooves have been sampled even today by the hip-hop rappers like Jay-Z, TuPac, Dr. Dre which just underscores the point that this is real music. Highly recommended!

The lineup was filled out with vocalist and percussionist Paul Crutchfield, bassist Norman Durham, and guitarist Richard Lee. Two years later, the band broke off on their own and changed their name to the Jam Band. For a brief...
