EDITORS’ NOTES

This seven-piece from Western Australia say they make hip-hop and jazz, but their sound spans so much more, including rock, funk, soul, and psychedelic dub. Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker produces, and his saturated sonic touch expertly binds the crew’s opposing elements: “Touch ’Em” zooms on the fast flow of rapper Shannon Cruz Patterson, while the lazy groove of “Slow One” puts him in the pocket. Tremulous keys twinkle through “1-5-9,” and the hectic “Black Panda” brings brass and stabby synth bass. It’s one joyous ride.

Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics.

Amazing

Kevin Parker's mixing and production mixed with these seven talented guys equals one of the most unique albums I have ever heard. I would describe the genre as a psychedelic, beach vibes, soul, hip hop and just originality. amazing album.

Amazing!

This is the album where funky beats from brilliant jazz musicians are fused with mind-opening hip-hop lyrics, right before being put into Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker’s psychedelic sound machine. I’ve always been a fan of fusion-style music, and this album perfectly illustrates how jazz, hip-hop, and psychedelic fusion work well together. Good luck to anyone who tries to find this type of sound anywhere else.
