Ku Klux Glam

Ku Klux Glam

With an album title like that, absurdity is all but guaranteed, and this collaboration between L.A. art-pop oddball Ariel Pink and his spirit animal R. Stevie Moore doesn’t skimp on the lo-fi lunacy. While “R. Stevie’s Brain” may begin as a typically twee synth-pop ditty, it eventually melts down into sound-collage chaos, like a tape deck chewing up a cassette. But amid these anarchic environs, the album’s handsomely crafted outliers—like the crystalline country-rock number “Come My Way”—shine brighter than Vegas lights after dark.
